Subaru WRX GC8

Some builds are more than just projects, this is one built on passion and drive.
The Mort Sport Subaru GC8 Rally Car has been a long-term labour of love for the team. Built in-house from the ground up, this project has taken shape over several years, worked on between customer builds, long nights, and weekends. Now it stands as a fully prepared, stage-ready rally car that is built, raced, and maintained by the Mort Sport crew.
We started with a bare shell, closed unnecessary factory holes, seam-welded key areas for strength, and applied a fresh coat of paint to create a clean canvas. From there, every component was selected and fitted with performance, reliability, and serviceability in mind.

Inside, we fabricated custom seat mounts, a routed the fuel system, firebomb, and intercooler spray lines to handle the demands. A Mort Sport made coolant header tank was fabricated and fitted to maintain optimal cooling under race conditions, and we also included a Group A style rally-spec oil cooler tank to improve engine longevity on long competitive stages.
The GC8 runs EXE-TC competition shocks, paired with Cusco front and rear differentials, delivering razor-sharp handling and durability across any terrain.
We also carried out a full rebuild of the X-Shift sequential gearbox, now upgraded with:
- New Cusco front differential
- New X-Shift DCCD centre diff magnet/coil
- Upgraded gears and input shaft
Every detail has a purpose — when you’re building a rally car, function, reliability and performance always takes priority

To make room and improve access in the engine bay, we installed the MortSport Subaru Alternator and Power Steering Pump Relocation Bracket Kit to give this build the layout it needs for easy servicing and access.
Electronics are handled by a top-tier MoTeC package:
- Motec M150 ECU
- Motec C127 Dash Display
- Blink Marine 15-button keypad
This system offers the perfect balance of control, flexibility, and real-time data that is critical for modern rally competition.
Every stage of this GC8 build was completed in-house by the MortSport team — from fabrication and mechanicals to wiring, plumbing, and final setup.
